Do you know what your definite major purpose is in life? Find out in 5 minutes!
Do you know what your definite major purpose is in life?
I find it fascinating how we can learn things on different and deeper levels as we progress through life.
I learned many years ago that the three most dangerous words we can use are “I know that” – and it is so true!
As soon as we say that, we cut off from learning anything new or gaining deeper understanding.
I read Napoleon Hills book “Think and Grow Rich” about 11 years ago and I remember him saying that the most important thing you will ever do is get clear on what your definite major purpose is in life.
He said that when he interviewed the 500 most successful men in America, the one thing that they all had in common was they were all clear on what their definite major purpose was in life.
At the time I got it on one level but my own limited thinking and self image which was mainly unconscious didn’t allow me to fully access what my definite major purpose was and so I found it difficult to be truly inspired in actioning my full potential.
As I have come to know myself more deeply and fully, I discovered that I was playing too small and that my definite major purpose was something quite extraordinary from what I had previously imagined.
And that is another great teaching that has come forth from antiquity — “Know thyself, be thyself”.
Only by knowing yourself will you be able to become completely clear on what your definite and major purpose is in life — and you be yourself whenever you start taking the steps in the direction of that purpose.
Your definite and major purpose could even be something that you have a complete aversion to, like it was for me.
That was another thing that I learned years ago and has now transformed from intellectual knowledge to cellular wisdom — our aversions provide for us our biggest learnings in life!
I remember first hearing that phrase and it somehow rang true for me even though I didn’t really understand it. It is like many of those things that I learned suddenly sank in even more than a decade after I first learned them. A succession of ‘aha’ moments you could say.
Here are a few ways to know yourself better:
1. Meditation
2. Travelling (alone is best)
3. Pushing past your limits, physically, mentally, emotionally. Face your fears, look to your aversions and get out of your comfort zone.
4. Get coaching from someone who is at least certified in NLP.
5. Attend Ayahuasca workshops and various types of retreats and seminars in personal development.
6. journalling and writing.
Get yourself into a great state and in that state, write down what your definite and major purpose is. Remove all limitations and give yourself a chance to dream again, like a child.
If there is one thing I have seen in my clients over the years is that they sell themselves short. They are capable of so much more than they believe or are demonstrating. What I saw in them was also a reflexion of me as well of course.
People often over-estimate what they can achieve in a year and under-estimate what they can achieve in 10 or 20 years.
Your definite major purpose is your big long term goal that over shadows everything else. It is that which is most important for you to achieve in life.
You will have many short term and smaller goals along the way so make sure that they support and are in alignment with your definite and major purpose — and remember as Napoleon Hill said — it is the most important thing that you can do in your life — so take time to do it now!
