Why I Supplement Vitamin B12
Today I discuss why I take a B12 Supplement.
I first took B12 after getting a Blood Analysis carried out during my pregnancy. The pharmacist advised me to take a B12 sublingual to raise my levels. Since giving birth I have been taking B12 in the form of Injections.
B12 is important for many Bodily Functions, including the conversion of Carbohydrates to Glucose in the body for energy. Many people who are tired, or weak could have a form of Anaemia caused by a lack of B12.
B12 also helps the nervous system to function, so can help reduce stress and depression.
It also helps cell regeneration and is important for health hair, nails and skin.
B12 is important for the digestive system. It helps to regulate cholesterol and can prevent strokes and heart disease.
There are also claims that it can help you lose weight.
We used to get B12 from the enzymes in the soil when we ate Organic Food. Unfortunately due to pesticides and mass farming it is very difficult to get B12 these days from our diet. Regardless of what you eat, whether Vegan or a Meat Eater! Many people all over the world have B12 deficiency’s.
On the severe end of the spectrum, a B12 deficiency can lead to nerve damage and give symptoms similar to MS where people can lose the ability to even walk.
B12 can be taken in the form of sublingual tablets that are placed underneath the tongue, or in injections. For some people however the sublinguals may not work because they do not have Intrinsic Factor in their stomachs from Pharmaceuticals or Antibiotics which they may have taken earlier in life. Therefore the injections are recommended in these cases.
