What do you do if you feel like crap? Do these three things!
What do you do if you feel like crap? Do these three things!
If I am getting irritated by little things or my energy is low and I feel like crap, then I remind myself of the basics.
To function at your optimal and be empowered you need to have an abundance of energy and your mind needs to be relaxed and centred.
If you can’t achieve this then your achievements in life will be hit and miss at best and long term success will probably elude you.
When I used to do a lot of coaching, I was working with a client for over a year and no matter what we did, we just couldn’t get his emotional state under control.
I hadn’t thought of it before but then I asked him what his sleep pattern was like. He told me that he never got to bed before midnight and was up every morning at 6am.
He held a high position in the corporate world, worked colossal hours , which only allowed him to sleep less than 6 hours per night—even on weekends—because of social occasions in the evening and then family outings the next day.
We worked out a few time management strategies which allowed him to get to bed 30 minutes earlier and also allowed him to take a 30 minute nap in his office each day.
The results were astounding. His stress levels decreased dramatically and he was able to function much more efficiently and effectively with the time he was awake.
Adequate sleep is vital for all round well-being. No matter how busy your life seems there is always a way to make sure you get enough sleep and it will mean that you get more done and show up more empowered and energised.
The second thing is water. If ever I am feeling lethargic or I have brain fog and I know I have had enough sleep then I remind myself to drink water. Half a litre is often enough to completely energise me for another 3 hours.
If I want to wake up fresh in the morning I drink at least half a litre of water before bed. I will then drink at least that again upon waking. I have had clients say to me that they purposely don’t drink water before bed because it means waking up and having to use the bathroom during the night which interrupts their nights sleep.
It is better to interrupt your sleep pattern than sleep in a dehydrated body. The former is like saying, I can see my oil light on but I don’t want to pull over and get oil as that will interrupt my journey and I won’t get to my destination as fast.
Please treat your body with at least the same amount of care as you treat your car! 😉
The third thing is glucose. The primary fuel for every cell in your body is glucose. Your brain needs a lot of glucose to function properly.
The bulk of what you eat needs to be carbohydrate based for your cells to receive the glucose in an efficient and easy to absorb manner.
The quickest and healthiest way to do this is through eating fruit such as bananas, followed by other whole foods such as potatoes and grains such as rice.
So if you feel like crap then go through this check list first of all. Did I get enough sleep? Am I hydrated? Have I eaten enough whole-foods?
That is your foundation for feeling and functioning at optimal levels. There is more to it and tomorrow I am going to reveal the next level of total well-being!
Todays power question: “How can I make sure I get enough sleep? How can I make sure I drink enough quality water everyday? How can I make sure I eat enough quality carbohydrates every day?”
Todays power statement: “My body is my temple, and I will treat it as such!”
