Warning! Do not mistake blissipline for discipline!!
Warning! Do not mistake blissipline for discipline!!
I often get complimented for being disciplined or people ask me how do I stay so disciplined!
The funny thing is that I don’t see myself as being disciplined at all, as there are many things that I fall off the wagon with, and there are mornings when I hit the snooze button more than once.
Many people have a misconception that to appear disciplined they have to behave like a robot. This is not the case.
To appear disciplined one must follow their bliss and this is called blissipline!
It is not always easy to follow your bliss in todays world. The programming of society has a different idea for you.
I broke the societal mould and decided to follow my bliss. I became inspired and outwardly it appears that I am disciplined. But when we do something from a place of inspiration then this cannot be called discipline, but blissipline!
I was never very disciplined at holding down a job. In any job I ever had, I would generally start to meltdown after about 90 days and have to leave, if I lasted that long.
I once stayed in a job for 9 months and I had the discipline to do this because of my vision. You see there are a few moving parts in this concept of discipline so lets explore each.
The job allowed me to save a lot of money and so my focus and thinking was-as soon as I hit a certain number I would be able to leave the job, buy a new house and start a business.
I appeared to be very disciplined at the time because all I did was work, train, eat and sleep. I saved 80 percent of my income and turned down all my friends requests to go out and party.
I had an inspiring and worthwhile vision, which superseded anything else!
The biggest motivating factor in the human psyche is to stay congruent with ones own identity, so we will act out however we see ourself.
Our identity is usually what has been moulded for us as we grow up, but we can decide to change that if we want by retraining our brain and re-interpreting our reality.
We all know people that are always on a diet, but aren’t getting any skinnier, or as one client very honestly said to me once “I have lost 30 stone in the last 30 years, but it’s always been the same stone!”
this is the truth for many people. They are just kidding themselves and living in frustration because they don’t know how the human brain operates or anything about behavioural psychology.
I don’t get fat, no matter how much I eat, (and I can really put it away) because I strongly identify myself as an athlete and an adonis.
My body looks virtually the same now as it did 20 years ago and I see no reason why it won’t stay like this in another 20 or 40 years as long as I hold this identity for myself and keep with my vision.
I helped the 30 stone guy get to his ideal weight and stay there , not by putting him on a special diet, but by helping him recreate his identity-installing new habits into his lifestyle and from changing his identity from being “I am a fat person” to “I am an athlete who lost his way, but am now moving in the right direction again.”
So forget about discipline, it’s blissipline that you want and when you start being true to you then this will manifest!
Todays power question: “If I where to really follow my bliss, who would I be and what would I do?”
Todays power statement: “I am (an athlete/an entrepreneur/a kind hearted person/__________)” Fill in the blank!
