The Prosperity Code – You Are The Average Of The 5 People You Spend Most Time With – Lesson 3

Are we really the average or the sum total of the 5 people we spend our most time with? Jim Rohn and many other world thought leaders such as Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor and Jack Canfield seem to think so.

We are well on our way to cracking the prosperity code and have now got over the ridiculous Idea that it is shameful, shallow or greedy to love money. If not go back to lesson one and do the exercise which will immediately delete this virus from your mind.

We have also cleared out all distractions by making a decision that we are wealthy and prosperous, and then taking massive action to align the universe with our desire. The act of deciding has given us laser focus to burn through obstacles and draw into our life, wealth and prosperity.

Like baking a cake were we must add the ingredients in a certain sequence, it is important to follow the prosperity code in order, or else it won’t work. There is no point trying to make a decision to become wealthy and prosperous if we first don’t love money. There will be a confliction of interests, values and beliefs and we simply won’t be able to make a firm decision.

The third step or principle to cracking the prosperity code is to surround ourselves with people who are wealthy and prosperous. It is that simple, but it is not advisable to do this until we have completed the first two steps. If we do, it will be forced, and we will create disharmony and will unconsciously sabotage our relationships with these people.

It was the late Jim Rohn that famously said,

“You are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with”

It can also be said that our net worth will be the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with.

When I mentioned this to someone once they responded with “Jesus spent his time with the down and outs, but he wasn’t an average of them”! That is true and the difference here is that Jesus wasn’t spending time with them because he had a similar set of beliefs and values, but because he was a teacher and healer and he was acting in the mode of service.

So we must look at who do we ‘hang’ with? Who do we see as our peers? I know people who have been of average intelligence and ability, but have amassed great fortunes by simply following these three steps or prosperity principles. They must be followed in order, that is the key.

Often we must change our peer group once we realise that we din’t want to be the sum total of the people we spend most time with. This may seem harsh, but essential as we generally only live up to the expectations of our peer group. If we surpass those expectations then our peer group can become uncomfortable with this and try and pull us back down. if this happens then we must let them go.

There are certain outstanding people that we may want to emulate and model in some way. Many of these people are not easily accessible, but their books, their interviews and trainings are. By reading books listening to audios and watching videos, we get can get inside their head and learn their thought patterns, behaviours and ways of living. By spending an hour per day reading and listening to audios on wealth and prosperity from those that are wealthy and prosperous, some of it starts to rub off!

We have to be willing to do whatever it takes. I have travelled to the Gold Coast in Australia from Ireland for  a 6 day seminar with Tony Robbins. I didn’t even get a chance to set foot on the beach. I had a business to get back to so couldn’t stay any longer than the length of the seminar. I lived in a 5 metre square room in Tokyo so I could train with the Ninjutsu Grandmaster.

At every chance we get we must put ourselves in the same room as other outstanding and masterful people if we wish to rise up and live life on their level. So seek out those that have attained wealth and prosperity and hang with them. This is the third most vital principle in the prosperity code.
