Every year millions of people set new years resolutions and out of those countless millions, it is estimated that 98% fail to keep their new years resolutions for more than a few weeks. Why is that do you think?

Well, the idea of new years resolutions is in the collective conscious, so many people do it because other people are doing it around them. But even the people that really want to make some sort of change or new start in the new year aren’t able to follow through on their resolution because they have no strategy.

To start with there has to be a strong desire to make that change. Maybe it is to stop smoking, go to the gym and get fit or get that elusive six pack abs, or maybe it is to write a book or learn a foreign language.

No matter what it is, there has to be a strong desire and a desire can be strengthened further by writing down all the reasons why you must make this change and stick to it. The bigger and more compelling your list, the more likely you are to stick to it. This is leverage, also known as your reason why!

It is great to have goals, but what I see is most people don’t understand how to be effective in goal setting and goal achieving. I like to start with a vision for my life and how I want to be, rather than a specific goal and then work backwards from there to the daily action steps that I need to take every day in order to realise this vision.

That then means that I have activity based goals, because I know that there are certain things that I nned to do every day and by doing those things everyday then I am constantly and continuously achieving my goals.

The real secret to goal setting, law of attraction, manifestation and all that seemingly pie in the sky esoteric stuff is daily and consistent action. You see, I achieve my goals everyday, everyday is a win for me because I have activity based goals.

I look at the 6 highest priority action steps that I need to do everyday in order to manifest my highest vision for my life and by taking action and completing those 6 highest priority action steps means that I am constantly winning.

It is very important to understand this concept, otherwise you will always be suffering and longing, like the olymic athlete that always feels like a failure until they stand on that podium with a gold medal and even that win is short lived.

Once you make the goal of life, progress, then you are constantly fulfilled and living in the present moment instead of dreaming of adistant future which because eyou have projected it into the future always remains in the future.

Bring your future into your present and you will never even consider making new years resolutions again, you will see the folly in them and how ridiculous they actually are.
