I Discovered The Secret of the Ultra Successful!
Sometimes the secret sauce that creates magic in our lives can be more mundane than we might have thought.
A study was done that looked at how much people read. The average person is said to read one book a year and the average CEO of a fortune 500 company is said to read 1 book a week—and you can be sure that they are not reading some trash novel.
I remember what changed my life and my circumstances many years ago was that I started reading again after a couple of years of not doing so. I was at rock bottom, working in a job that I hated and I couldn’t see a way out. I picked up a book called “Awaken The Giant Within” By Anthony Robbins.
Within six months I was out of that job and had started my own successful business. It was the book that gave me the distinctions to do it. I was able to get inside the head of one of the most outstanding people on the planet and learn the principles and strategies of success.
Ever since that time eleven years ago, I saw the true value in reading and I have consistently read book after book, year in year out.
Start reading everyday for at least 30 minutes. Choose topics that you can learn from and that will better your life. I have read so many books on health, wealth and personal development that I am now seen as an expert in these fields and people come to me for coaching, mentoring and many join my team.
Todays power question: “If I could become an expert and master one thing in life what would it be?”
Todays power statement: “Leaders are readers and I commit to reading for at least 30 minutes daily”
Part 4 “Leg Break” (Continued from yesterday)
The x-rays confirmed it-a clean crack right across the top of my tibia, just under my knee. My leg had swollen and was painful to the point were I wasn’t able to even touch it on the ground. The doctor did not think I would need a cast, so I was just given some crutches to hobble around on.
My sergeant upon hearing from the doctor, told me that I was to be back-trooped and I would remain in the remedial troop until such a time that I would be able to be reintroduced into commando training. “Get your shit together Armstrong and report to the Hunter troop sergeant immediately”
Zero emotion or sympathy from my sergeant. I liked him and I thought that he liked me, but in this game as I was learning, there is no room for frivolous emotions or niceties.
There was a troop photograph on the wall outside the team office and every time a recruit was back-trooped or left, their face was blacked out on the photograph. My ego couldn’t bare for this to happen to me. I was very upset about the whole thing and felt that my injury was unfair. I had given it everything I had and I deserved better, or so I thought!
I hobbled over to my old accommodation that night. It was deserted as my old troop had gone out on a five day exercise. I hobbled over to the training team office to see that I was nothing more than a shadow, made sure of by a permanent black marker.
I filled with rage and grabbed the photograph off the wall and screwed it up and threw it at the training team door. I wanted them to know of my anger and disapproval and I did not care about the consequences. –To be continued
With appreciation,
Matthew Armstrong
