Day 20 Walking The Camino De Santiago – Población to Carrión de los Condes
What can I say, some days on the camino De Santiago are boring.
Today was the straightest most boring walk along the side of a road for 18km. We also had a strong constant head wind all day as well. We didn’t pass through any towns or villages along the way, other than one deserted village.
It is times like this when it is best to go inwards, as there is not much to enjoy on the outside. Many people report having spiritual experiences on the Camino De Santiago, or some type of awakening moment, but I had not experienced anything that was really out of this world maybe until now.
I spent much of the day chanting some taoist chants and just before we entered Carrion De Los Condes, I was hit by what could be called a spiritual experience.
I was carrying my heavy backpack so was bent forward a little, but was suddenly taken by an energy field which lifted me bolt upright so I was walking with perfect alignment while still chanting. Next even though my body stayed walking, I felt myself being lifted higher and higher into another higher vibration dimensional plane.
I felt perfect peace and was completely present for which was probably a couple of minutes, without one thought entering my head. I was still able to observe what my body was doing as it carried on walking, but I was very clearly not my body and it was like I had hit the cruise control and just let my body keep going, while I basked in this place of perfection.
I guess that it was my endeavor to keep chanting for a long period while enduring this mentally taxing stage of the Camino. After what was probably only a couple of minutes, I returned to my body and started to feel the limiting factors associated with the body. My feet were sore, my back stiff and shoulders numb from the heavy back pack and my mouth dry and thirsty from all the chanting.
That was good enough for me. The Camino De Santiago could have ended that day and I would have been satisfied with my experience. It would have all been worth it just for that, and little did I know that Victoria had been planning her escape from the Camino De Santiago all day, and today may just well be the last day….to be continued.
P.S.We are able to take a month out to walk the camino as we earn a passive residual income online. Want to do the same? Just click below to find out more.
