Are you a Messer or a Master?

Are you a Messer or a Master?

Are you a Messer or a Master?

There are two types of people in life and the great thing is that you get to choose which one you will be.

There are messers and there are masters! The word messer is slang for someone who is not focused and does not accomplish anything of value, to put it politely!

If you don’t decide to master at least one thing in life then the chances are that you never will. It takes conscious awareness that you are capable of mastery to first get the cogs turning.

The way I see it, is that we are all going to journey through life anyway and so we may as well master some things along the way. Although it takes focused effort to become a master, it is much more rewarding than being a messer.

It’s also never too late to become a master in any area of life you choose. There are some exceptions and some skills take decades to master or need to be started at a young age, such as gymnastics. So taking up gymnastics in your 70’s may not be the best plan.

There is a man I know of, who took up painting at 79 and at 83 had his paintings in galleries all around the world!

As a general rule, if you study for 30 minutes per day in the field that you would love to master, at the end of 7 years you could be at the cutting edge of your field.

If you study an hour a day in the field you want to master, in 4 years, you could be at the cutting edge.

If you study for 3 hours per day then you could be at the cutting edge of your field in 2 years or less!

Of course this type of study requires highly concentrated effort and the best guidance and resources. Understanding this makes me wonder about how ineffective the school system is. Tens of thousands of hours wasted in not mastering anything!

Personally my chosen field of mastery is amongst the most difficult and takes the longest, but really, what else do I have to do!

I have chosen to master martial arts, I have chosen to master public speaking and I have chosen to master writing. And I know that if I focus and concentrate my efforts on these three things everyday then there is no way for it not to happen!

Now it’s your turn, what are you going to master in your life? It may take some thought, but it is some of the most important thinking that you will ever do. Messer or Master, blue pill or red pill, the choice is yours!

Todays power question: “What would I love to master in my life?”

Todays power statement: “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul!”
