Day 21 Walking The Camino De Santiago – Carrión de los Condes to Moratinos

The Albergue that we stayed in, in Carrion De Los Condes was a convent run by nuns. It was very nice actually and all the nuns came to “tuck us in” before we went to sleep which was both nice and weird at the same time.

There was another irish guy in the same room as us who seemed very disturbed by the gathering of nuns before bedtime.

there was a good mixture of people in the albergue that night and we were all in the one room. A Japanese woman, Brazilian guy, two guys from Chile, a Dutch woman and of course us and the irish guy.

That is what I love about staying in the albergue’s and I think those that stay in hotels or pensions miss out on some of the flavour of the Camino by not staying in the albergues and having these weird and wacky experiences and meeting with all the various people from around the world.

Victoria had said in no uncertain terms that her Camino was over and she was getting the bus, the next morning. I completely surrendered to this and went along with her wishes, much to her annoyance. I had my spiritual experience the day before and felt quite complete and satisfied with whatever we did.

We walked to the bus station, but could only see school buses at that time of morning. We then went for breakfast at a cafe. Usually I would be trying to persuade and influence Victoria into keeping going, but this time I stayed quiet and went along with whatever she said.

Indigo was indifferent and he mostly enjoyed the camino. He is very social, so loved meeting new people all along the way. After a while Victoria of her own accord decided to keep walking. She was confused to why I had not tryed to persuade her in any way. I think this threw her slightly and me offering no resistance to her wishes allowed for her to change her mind about quitting.

We enjoyed the days walk with favourable weather conditions apart from the wind, we arrived in a village that we thought we would be staying to find no albergues open. We then saw a sign for a vegetarian albergue 3km away. This was good news for Victoria as she values having decent food and that is one thing we could not find in Carrion De Los Condes.

The weather changed and we arrived at the Albergue St Bruno wet and wind swept, to be met by a very tall and friendly Italian guy who made us feel very welcome. So our walk along the Camino De Santiago continues.

P.S.We are able to take a month out to walk the camino as we earn a passive residual income online. Want to do the same? Just click below to find out more.
